It must be purely a coincidence but interestingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate completion of his six months in office on November 26, sharing the same company of SAARC leaders who witnessed his swearing-in on May 26 at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Seven SAARC head of the government, including Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, were invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the NDA government on May 26 that turned into a major diplomatic exercise for the Modi Government from the word go.
Six months down the line, Mr Modi would be standing with the SAARC leaders again, although the venue this time is Kathmandu.
The highlight of the swearing-in six months ago was the presence of Mr Sharif that marked a thaw in Indo-Pak relations.
This time, however, diplomacy has taken a reverse swing and there seems to be a big question mark over the possible meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries.
The flare up on the International Border and the LoC and subsequent events and statements emanating from the two sides have soured relations to point where the two leaders are less likely to see each other eye-to-eye with shaking of hands being a remote possibility.
